Who's 'Yeti' to party?
This last week was memorable! Elder Petersen and I saw a ton of success. We taught a lot of crazy people, but I definitely felt we were on the Lord's errand and doing his work even though many of those people chose not to continue to listen or to act on what we shared with them.

Christmas Eve with Tristen!
Tristen is doing super good! We had 3 pretty powerful lessons with him this week, and really helped him identify his vision and purpose in life that he's always known he has. He put it down on paper, and wrote down the daily habits he needs to develop to get there spiritually. It boosted his confidence drastically--he feels confident he can overcome the temptations and has game plans to escape them. he set his own baptismal date for the 12th!

Good Ol' Cuban Cookin
Alex is doing great as well. He missed church because he probably stayed out too late on Christmas eve, but he told us that he's decided to Stay in the US. He really sees God's hand directing his life. He broke up with his Girlfriend in Venezuela and wants to make his life here in the States, and focus on putting God central in it by preparing to be baptized.

It's been really fun teaching Alex and Tristen. They're 22 and 19, and I feel like I can unload some of the lessons I've learned on my mission and help them apply it. It's been cool to see them get excited and make changes, even in a place as crazy as Key West.

Sorry for the short one. Hope everyone has a great week!

{12.5.16} Doral For Life

I have no time to write, but I'll share 2 quick experiences from this week.

About 6 months ago, Elder Christensen and I knocked into a lady named Alana. She was baptized as a teenager on a small Caribbean island (i can't remember which one)  but when she had turned 18, she moved to new york but fell away from the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her life got pretty difficult after 10 years up there, so she moved down here to Florida to be closer to her daughter (who lives with her ex) and her mother, which is when we found her.
Doral For Life
We started going by to see her and she started having really strong desires to come back to church and live the Gospel, and to have her daughter become involved as well. Unfortunately, things took a really bad turn--her boyfriend she was living with was abusive, and things got so bad she told us she was going to leave and not come back. She had no phone, and we went by several times to see if she was ever there but we never heard from her again.... until a couple nights ago. I was driving by where she lived and I saw her door was open and a I saw a woman who lived there that looked just like her. I didn't think it was possible, but it kept sticking in my mind, so after we dropped off Elder Toews and a member from the branch to visit recent converts, we went back instead of knocking doors. Sure enough, Alana was back! She'd completely flipped her life around. She's been reading in the scriptures daily, has a job, a car, and is out of the bad relationship. Her daughter is also with her now, and they're coming to church next week!

Awhile ago, we were also teaching the Reyes family. They're an awesome family, but when we were teaching them, life was coming at them 1,000 mph from 11 different angles. They had just moved from New York as well--had 3 kids, 1 on the way, and the father was working double shifts every day detailing cars. They got too busy and too distracted and stopped meeting with us. After Alana, we went and stopped by their house, and the situation has completely changed--they have a car, the father has a 9-5 job selling insurance, their house has furniture now, and they seem a lot happier, and less stressed. We shared the #lighttheworld christmas video with them, and the spirit was instantly there. They asked us to pray and bless their house, and invited us to come back and start teaching them again.

It's amazing what time can do in peoples lives! It's also amazing how God can work in our lives over time. But what really stands out to me is all the little seeds that we sow, what they can really develop into. Sometimes as a missionary, I can get frustrated. I'm giving my all to serve people and give them what I KNOW will help them have more peace and happiness, and they just don't want to be served or they just don't understand. Serving in this area for 7 & 1/2 months has been a huge blessing, because normally I wouldn't have been able to see those seeds I planted develop into what they are now. Never underestimate small acts of service and the ripple effect they can have on someone's life, or their eternity.

{11.7.16} Cuatro

This week was one of the best of my mission. Pretty much.

4 members of the Zapata family, Jaylin, Marie, Alexa, and Kenrick, got baptized on Wednesday! After their baptism, they all four bore their testimonies. It was a spiritual experience I won't ever forget. After the baptism, Jaylin texted us and told us how grateful she was and her family is for us knocking door, and all the postive changes she's been seeing in her life. They're so excited to be members of the church, and the rest of the family is excited for their baptisms coming later in the month. Their aren't really words to describe how happy this family makes me. For the past 3 months, I've been praying and fasting to find a full family who's looking for the truth. I definitely know God answered my prayers, and theirs, and I'm really humbled and grateful that God used me and my companions to help this family find the truth they've been looking for.
The rest of the week was crazy skressful. Elder VanCott went home (finishing his mission on a legendary note by baptizing 4 on his last night instead of spending it in the Hotel with everyone else) and Elder Toews came in as our new companion! i've always loved Elder Toews and hoped to be companions with him, so it's gonna be great transfer! Our first full day in the new trio was spent in the office making MLC, which was originally was supposed to be a week later but had to be changed because of the recent changed made by Salt Lake. 9 hours in an office and only a few hours of lost sleep later, we were able to give a completed MLC to the Zone Leaders and STLs that will help keep the fire going and keep us consistent with the mission goals and the amazing month we had in October with 86 baptisms.

Despite the skressfulness, it was a great week and a lot of fun! I have no complaints. This email's kind of short, but I mostly just want to express how grateful I am, and how happy I am to be a missionary, and a member of Christ's Church.

{10.31.16} Pictures cause they're better.

Chevy went down... kinda hahahha.
This week was amazing! BUT transfers are under way, and there's a TON of changes happening in all the missions in the world right now so there's a lot to do. So i'm going to let pictures do most of the talking.
Lisa went down! Shout out to Sisters Rammel,
Jeppson, and LeBaron for finding her.

and the Zapata family came to trunk or treat Saturday night! The whole family has been to church two weeks in a row, and 4 of the 6 that are baptismal age are going baptized on wednesday! the other 2 are getting baptized next week.

This week has truly been a week of miracles. The mission baptized 35 this week! So many miracles happened. Over in Naples, the zone leaders are the creole elders teamed up with some members to help a haitian women find a job, get an interview, pass the interview and receive a job so she could move out of a bad living condition so she can be baptized! Sister Chalas in our branch received a bible referral to deliver to... her old next neighbor in turks and caicos! Saila, the old neighbor, got baptized with our investigators on wednesday. These are 2 of the amazing miracles the mission saw this month. It's been amazing to see how much everyone has applied themselves this month and raise their commitment and given themselves over even more to Christ and doing his work.
The vision and the goal is to keep the faith, consecration, and the urgency this high consistently. Several of the changes coming from the missionary executive council in Salt Lake will support this consistency we are trying to push. The end goal is 100 souls average unto christ every 5 weeks, and we are off to an amazing start!!

Hope everyone has an awesome week! here's a couple more pictures:

{10.24.16} It's All Good in the Hood

This week was insanely busy, but a really good week. Because of hurricane matthew a few weeks back, we got really behind on all our exchanges and had to catch up before the transfer ended. I spent 2 days out of my area shadowing the Blue Lagoon West and Fontainebleau North Elders in Miami. Blue Lagoon is right up next to the heart of Miami, and Fontainebleau was my 'birth' or 1st area! it's West Miami, but in my (completely un-bias) opinion the best area in the mission. Saw a ton of awesome miracles in Blue Lagoon. We found a family of 3 from cuba, and who just got here from Cuba who has been praying to find a church and lives all by herself in a tiny efficiency on the side of a house, and in Fontainebleau I got to visit my convert Juan and all his family, many of which are now baptized and all the grandkids who are working towards baptism! Check out the photos:

In our area, Lisa and Chevy passed their baptismal interviews and will be getting baptized on Wednesday! Chevy came with us to do service the other day and he is loving everything. He's been investigating the church for a couple years, and his time finally came and he's now ready. I can't wait to send the baptismal photos so everyone can see his million dollar smile. It's seriously worth a million bucks. You'll believe it when you see it. Lisa is doing so great as well. She's quit smoking quite awhile now, and she loves the Book of Mormon and after her baptismal interview she was so excited she called all her new friends in the branch. She's so much happier from when we first met her as well. Huge blessing.

Huge miracle this week is when we found Marina knocking doors. We invited her to church and she was sooo down and wanted all her kids to come. We were going to go back and teach them all that night (saturday) but they were all at a birthday party, so she told us to come by before church Sunday. When we came by, they were all waiting for us--all 9 members of the family! 8 of them came to church, including Marina whose manager miraculously gave her the day off just because she mentioned her family was going to be going to church (NEVER happens in south florida). They loved it, and kept asking before we could even bring it up if they can be baptized, how they can learn more and participate more, and what's 'required' to become a member of the church. Such a huge blessing!

Hope everyone has a great week!
